Peaf Questions

Good morning! I just received a preservation of evidence request from a suspect to preserve all evidence for a potential civil suit against the victim. His case was closed "no info" by the SAO 30 days ago with the permission to dispose of all evidence. The case involves roommates, indecent exposure and a claim that the suspect threatened the victim with a sword. I am going to inform him that he can retrieve his sword, but how should you handle the latent prints (I do not have the results from the prints yet) and DNA swabs that were taken from the sword? They have not been processed. I also have an item that belongs to the victim. With the criminal aspect being closed, would you have a duty to preserve all items or would you give the suspect all of the items so he can preserve them? Thanks for any feedback!
