What do your agencies do when you have found property and the person who lost it lives out of state or out of county?
Do you mail to person?
Do you mail to closet agency?
Do you say sorry but we do not mail out property?

Our agency for the most part will do returns out of state by shipping through FedEx with a signature requirement. The owner will need to send us a notarized letter stating they wish for the item to be sent to them and understand that once shipped we are not held responsible for lost items in the mail. The owner will also have to prepurchase the shipping label. If the item is a firearm or high valuable item them will have to get the item insured, for the approximant amount. If the item is a firearm the firearm is either shipped to a gun store or local PD (if the PD is willing to do the return on behalf of our agency don't be surprised if they don't do it for legal reasons)). Before shipping the firearm a background check and FCIC/NCIC and proof of ownership is completed.
